Safety Checklist
Run this checklist before holding or transacting meaningful TDC. Most wallet losses come from bad downloads, missing backups, wrong addresses, phishing, or rushing a large first transfer.
Before receiving
- Download or open the wallet only from the official project source.
- Verify releases when checksums or signatures are provided.
- Create the wallet on a device you control.
- Back up the wallet before receiving value.
- Store backup material offline.
- Test recovery while the balance is small.
Before sending
- Confirm the recipient address through a second channel for meaningful value.
- Check the address prefix and network.
- Send a small test transaction first.
- Review the fee and total amount.
- Wait for confirmations before treating the payment as settled.
Operational habits
| Habit | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Keep wallet software updated | Fixes bugs and compatibility issues. |
| Keep backups offline | Reduces malware, phishing, and account takeover risk. |
| Use a full node for larger operations | Removes dependence on third-party chain views. |
| Avoid address reuse | Reduces payment-linking leakage. |
| Separate spending and storage wallets | Limits loss if a daily-use device is compromised. |
Stop if
- The wallet source or download link looks different than expected.
- The address prefix is for another network.
- The wallet has not synchronized or cannot show recent blocks.
- You have not backed up the wallet.
- You are being pressured to send quickly.
